SMART Flare & Vent

Reports Flare and Vent volume from offshore facilities as required by CFR 250.1105 and its subsections. SMART Flare & Vent calculates volumes based on daily production volumes and pre-determined flash or report as factors, and where applicable, daily GOR.

SMART Flare & Vent System

Reports Flare and Vent volume from offshore facilities as required by CFR 250.1105 and its subsections. SMART Flare & Vent system calculates volumes based on daily production volumes and pre-determined flash or report as factors, and where applicable, daily GOR. Flare and Vent system handles both metered and unmetered facilities for Routine Flare and Vent, Equipment Upsets, as well as Well Testing, Unloading and Cleaning. The Daily Operations Worksheets for each facility is customized based on pre-configured flare and vent sources and fuel gas consumers, so operators will notice little difference between SMART and the spreadsheets or other input forms they’re accustomed to.

The module has real time warnings that advise the operator when vent or flare volumes or duration approach the monthly maximums allowed by the CFR. Each warning can automatically generate e-mail notifications so management personnel are instantly aware of anomalous conditions in the field.

The module produces reports of flare and vent volumes, including:

  • Venting Summary – This report produces daily and cumulative monthly data for all vent sources, including:
  • Routine – Small and Uneconomic
  • Equipment Failure / Upsets
  • Well Testing, Unloading, Cleaning
  • Fuel Gas Lease Use
  • Component Reports – In addition to the Summary Report, each constituent section will be reported separately, e.g., Routine Venting, Equipment upsets, etc.

SMART Flare and Vent system does not include an engineering module used to determine Flash and Report As factors, or the calculations that must be presented to BSEE on demand. It is assumed this work has already been done, and simply requires the factors to be entered in set-up so the operator only need input Production Volumes and when applicable, metered Flare and Vent volumes. A history of changes to Factors, Meters, or unmetered Flare and Vent sources is maintained over time so all reporting reflects the conditions as they existed on any particular production date.
